The FBI says four Oxnard residents have been indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with their alleged involvement in a robbery spree in that city.
The defendants, two men and two women ranging in age from 19 to 51 and all from Oxnard, are facing federal charges under the Hobbs Act.
Convictions could land each one of them in a federal prison for 20 years on each robbery count.
The FBI says the suspects robbed the Home Depot in Oxnard on January 4th, and a Walmart in Oxnard on January 7th.
At least one of the suspects brandished a gun during the robberies.
Following the Walmart robbery Oxnard police caught two of the suspects as they tried to drive away.
The gun used in the robberies was found in the vehicle.
The other two suspects were arrested by Oxnard police on March 29th and were handed over to federal authorities.
Federal penalties for such crimes that are prosecuted under the Hobbs Act result in much tougher sentences than the state hands out.
