Updated--Santa Paula police have released an update with more details about the fiery plane crash on Sunday afternoon August 25th near Santa Paula Airport.

They say the pilot and lone occupant of the private single engine aircraft, 25-year-old Graham Pollock of Santa Paula, remains in critical but stable condition in the Los Angeles County Hospital Burn Center.

His single-engine Pitts Special Acrobatic type biplane crashed and burst into flames around 12:25 PM that afternoon in an industrial area near the 12th Street bridge and south of the 126 just east of Santa Paula Airport.

Police say Pollock was rescued from the burning plane by the heroic efforts of a Good Samaritan who braved the flames to pull Pollock, who was on fire, from the burning wreckage and then used a fire extinguisher to douse the flames.

The NTSB continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
