Oxnard Man Sentenced For Gang Related Murder

     Updated--A Ventura County judge Wednesday sentenced a man to 50-years-to-life in prison with the possibility of parole for a gang related killing two years ago.

      A year ago a jury found 21-year-old Jason Armenta of Oxnard guilty of killing 21-year-old Cristobal Gonzalez of Oxnard and shooting at another man but not wounding him.

     They also found true two special allegations relating to the use of a firearm and that the shooting was gang related.

     Prosecutors say Armenta went out to prowl the neighborhood of rival gang members and opened fire on Gonzalez and another man on Howell Road in Oxnard firing 15 rounds, killing Gonzalez but missing the other man.

     They were able to present cell phone video evidence of the shooting as well as video of Armenta bragging about "training" at a local shooting range.
