Updated--An Oxnard man charged in what the authorities say was a DUI crash that killed a bicyclist has been ordered to stand trial following a two day preliminary hearing last week.

28-year-old Andres Morales is free on his own recognizance but he must wear what's called a SCRAM, an ankle bracelet that is remotely monitored to make sure he does not use alcohol.

The crash happened on the night of February 13th last year on Wooley Road east of the “Five Points” intersection in Oxnard.

Police say that Morales was traveling eastbound on Wooley Road at a high rate of speed when he veered onto the right shoulder of the roadway and struck the bicyclist.

The impact caused the bicyclist to be ejected and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The authorities said that Morales had an alcohol level above the legal limit.

Prosecutors charged Morales was with Felony Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated.

The DA also filed two special allegations of a Serious Felony and a Crime that Involved Great Violence.

Morales has pleaded not guilty and denied the special allegations.

He is due back in court on February 28th to have a trial date set.
