The CHP says a motorcyclist was killed in a solo vehicle crash in Camarillo Wednesday morning.

It was reported shortly after 6 AM on the northbound 101 south of Springville Drive.

Witnesses told the CHP that the motorcycle, a 2019 Kawasaki Ninja, was traveling at a high rate of speed, passing other vehicles and using all lanes and the right shoulder of the freeway.

At that point they say the motorcyclist lost control on the dirt shoulder and then traveled through the chain link perimeter fence onto a frontage road where the motorcycle flipped over.

     The motorcyclist was then ejected.

The CHP says that 25-year-old Miguel Banales of Oxnard was found unresponsive and was transported to VCMC where he was pronounced dead.

The accident investigation closed the right lane of the northbound 101 in that area until 8:20 AM causing a backup through Camarillo that at one point extended almost to the bottom of the Conejo Grade.
