Oxnard K9, SWAT Team, End Four Hour Standoff With Knife Wielding Man
Monday August 28, 2023
Oxnard police brought in their SWAT Team, K-9 Rocky, and a drone to bring a four-hour standoff with a knife wielding man to an end Monday.
The incident began around 11:40 AM when officers responded to what's known as a "hot prowl" in the 3500 block of South "C" Street.
It turns out the 30-year-old Oxnard man who was involved had violated a domestic violence restraining order by entering the property.
When officers arrived they contacted the man who was armed with a knife.
They told him to drop the knife, but he refused.
Officers with the department's Crisis Negotiation Team arrived and began what ended up being four hours of negotiations with no success.
It was at that point the SWAT Team, K-9 Rocky, and the drone all combined to finally take the man into custody.
He was arrested for Aggravated Trespass and Violation of a Domestic Violence Restraining Order.
