Oxnard Gang Member Pleads Guilty To Murder And Several Robberies
Monday November 20, 2023
An Oxnard gang member has pleaded guilty to second degree murder, three robberies, and one attempted robbery in connection with a violent crime spree more than five years ago.
Now 24-year-old Osvaldo Hernandez also admitted several special allegations including using a gun to fatally shoot 39-year-old Robert De La Cerda of Oxnard in the 4000 block of South "J" Street in Oxnard on the early morning of June 27, 2018 while attempting that fourth robbery.
De La Cerda died at the scene.
Prosecutors say that killing was the end of a violent three hour crime spree by Hernandez involving other robbery victims at three locations around the city.
Hernandez at one point had been facing special circumstance allegations that might have meant life in prison without parole or the death penalty.
Instead, he is expected to be sentenced on January 15th to 15-years-to-life in prison plus 17 years.
Until then, Hernandez remains in the Ventura County Jail being held without bail.
