Oxnard Begins 2024 With Fatal Shooting

     Oxnard began 2024 with a fatal shooting.

     At 12:10 AM January 1st officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 2100 block of Sierra Way.

     That is a residential community south of Channel Islands Boulevard between Oxnard Boulevard and Rice Avenue.

     When they arrived on scene, they found a shooting victim in the street suffering from a single gunshot wound.

     He was rushed to VCMC but despite life saving measures he was pronounced dead.

     Police identified the victim as 34-year-old Jose Juarez of Oxnard.

     The Oxnard PD's Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and began an investigation.

Investigators are encouraging anyone who has any information, may have heard or seen anything to contact Detective Adam Aguilar (805) 385-7680.  The City of Oxnard offers a reward of $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any individuals responsible for committing homicides within the City.
