Wednesday August 03, 2022
One person was killed, two others injured, one critically, in a two-alarm fire in Oxnard early Wednesday morning.
When firefighters arrived in the 5100 block of Longfellow Way shortly after 5 AM they found a second story unit in a six-unit condo complex well involved in flames.
They made an aggressive attack and had the fire knocked down in about 15 minutes.
Fire damage was confined to that one unit but there was smoke and water damage to other units.
In all, 16 residents of the building were displaced by the fire and were being helped by the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
There reported had been an incident at the location the night before that required the police.
Traffic control along nearby Pleasant Valley Road was lifted around 8 AM.
