An Ojai man accused of torturing and killing his father's dog has pleaded guilty.
35-year-old Donhvon Snyder was convicted of felony cruelty to an animal and he admitted to an allegation of use of a deadly weapon.
At the end of December, deputies from the Ojai station responded to the 1100 block of Woodland Avenue in Ojai to a possible animal cruelty incident.
They were told that Donhvon hated his father's 10-year-old female chihuahua Victoria and had maimed the animal and then killed her.
Deputies say that Donhvon did not deny the allegations and showed detectives where he buried Victoria after the November 2018 incident.
The dog was exhumed and a necropsy revealed trauma around Victoria's neck consistent with being strangled.
It also determined the dog had suffered other injuries including broken bones over an extended period of time.
Donhvon was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and he has now pleaded guilty to that charge.
He remains in the Ventura County Jail with sentencing set for March 26th.
