No DUI's At Ventura Checkpoint

Saturday May 14, 2022

Updated--Ventura police say their Friday-the-13th DUI/DL checkpoint did not result in any DUI arrests.

The checkpoint was conducted on Main Street east of Callens Road from 9 PM to 1 AM.

Police say that 876 vehicles passed through the checkpoint.

489 drivers were contacted and screened.

Officers conducted 7 field sobriety tests.

Six drivers were cited for license violations.

Law enforcement says the purpose of checkpoints that are publicized in advance is to deter people from getting behind the wheel impaired in the first place, not to make DUI arrests.

They consider a checkpoint that results in no DUI arrests to be a success.
