Newbury Park Man Changes Plea To Not Guilty By Reason Of Insanity In Sister's Deeth
Friday March 21, 2025
Updated--There were new developments in the case of a Newbury Park man who had been charged with murder in the shooting death of his sister more than two years ago
Now 35-year-old Brennan Paul Post was in court Friday and changed his plea from not guilty to not guilty by reason of insanity on all counts in the shooting death of 25-year-old Cassidy Snow.
The people later asked the court to dismiss the murder charge, "in the interests of justice", which would now make this a case of voluntary manslaughter instead.
The killing happened in the early morning hours of February 17, 2023 at the family residence in the 100 block of Sandra Court in Newbury Park.
Snow was declared dead at the scene, Post was taken into custody later that day and booked into the Ventura County Jail for Felony Murder.
Post remains in jail and is being held without bail.
A hearing is set for May 2 regarding the sanity issue and also mental health placement.
