The victim in Ventura County's first homicide of 2020 has been identified.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office says 64-year-old Mark Milton of Moorpark died after being shot in a U-Haul truck at the Public Storage facility at Los Angeles Avenue and Goldman Avenue in Moorpark Friday afternoon around 2:20 PM.
The Moorpark man arrested late Friday night for allegedly killing Milton over a personal dispute was booked into the Ventura County Jail Saturday on a charge of felony first degree murder.
Bail for 67-year-old Elsworth Cadle was set at $3 million.
He remains in jail and is due in court Tuesday afternoon to be arraigned for what is Ventura County's first homicide of 2020.
The killing prompted an extense ground and air search for Cadle that included several residences in that area, including an apartment at the Waterstone Apartments at Moorpark Avenue and Majestic Court in Moorpark, just southeast of the scene of the shooting.
A SWAT team, K-9, other deputies and Copter 3 were involved in the search.
At the location of the apartment, nearby residents were evacuated as deputies spent several hours waiting for a search warrant before going into the residence, but Cadle was not there.
About 9 hours after the shooting, a rented black Ford Explorer that was linked to Cadle was spotted near Moorpark College.
Deputies made a high risk traffic stop and arrested Cadle around 11:14 PM Friday night without further incident.
A firearm was recovered.
According to jail records, Cadle lists his occupation as Transit Coach Operator and his place of birth as Belize.
