Moorpark Cold Case Murder Suspect Pleads Not Guilty
Thursday August 22, 2024
Update--The suspect in a two-decade-old cold case murder in Moorpark was in court Thursday and entered a plead of not guilty to First Degree Murder.
73-year-old Antoine Nehme of Victorville also pleaded not guilty to Conspiracy and Solicitation of Murder.
He also denied a special circumstance allegation of Murder for Financial Gain.
Nehme was 52-years-old when he is alleged to have been responsible for the fatal shooting of 71-year-old Dennis Leroy Wood of Moorpark.
In April of 2004 Wood was found dead in his home in the 12500 block of Mountain Trail Street in Moorpark.
The two men knew each other but the special allegations would indicate that Nehme was not the only person involved in the crime.
It took until last year before investigators believed they had the evidence needed to make an arrest and not until this year before they had enough to file charges and make an arrest.
Nehme remains in jail and is being held without bail.
