Man Arrested For Threatening A Security Guard With A Railroad Spike At Catholic Charities In Ventura

Monday July 1, 2019

Ventura police say they arrested a man for assault with a deadly weapon, trespassing, and possession of methamphetamine following an incident at the Catholic Charities at 303 North Ventura Avenue Monday afternoon.

They say it happened around 12:10 PM when the suspect, who had been arrested before for trespassing at that location, allegedly did it again.

Police say when the security guard contacted the man for this latest incident, the man allegedly pulled out a 9-inch long railroad spike and held it near the security guard while threatening his life.

The security guard backed away and called 9-1-1 and officers responded.

They say the suspect fled but was later caught and arrested.

Police say that 26-year-old Andrew Martinez has been arrested four times for trespassing, three times for possession of narcotics paraphernalia, one time for possession of burglary tools, and one time for possession of a banned substance.
