Updated--The Ventura County Sheriff's Office says that one of the two teens involved in a pursuit and crash early Sunday morning in Camarillo remains in critical condition.

The 17-year-old male was the driver of the suspect vehicle and was ejected when it went out of control resulting in a solo vehicle rollover crash on the northbound 101 near Carmen Drive in Camarillo shortly after midnight Sunday morning.

He was taken to VCMC in Ventura and later transferred to Children's Hospital in Los Angeles where, according to the sheriff's office, he was in critical condition.

The 17-year-old male passenger who climbed out of the wreckage on his own and surrendered to deputies was treated for his injuries at VCMC and then released.

The sheriff's office says the two teens were suspected of being involved in the theft of alcohol and other products from the CVS store on Carmen Drive in Camarillo.

A sheriff's sergeant spotted the vehicle a short time later and attempted a traffic stop since it matched the description of the vehicle involved in the theft and also had its headlights turned off.

Ultimately the vehicle failed to yield and that started the short pursuit that traveled from surface streets onto the northbound 101 at Lewis Road.

The crash happened shortly after that near Carmen Drive.
