The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has accused a former Oxnard police officer with grand theft while he was on the job.
34-year-old Randi Breon Vines is charged with two counts of grand theft that prosecutors allege happened when he was an Oxnard police officer.
His attorney entered not guilty pleas for Vines who was not in court Tuesday.
Prosecutors allege that between September 2022 and May 2024 when Vines was on the force he used his city-issued fuel card to purchase more than $3,300 worth of fuel for his personal vehicle.
It’s also alleged that Vines stole $1,200 from an arrestee on May 5th of this year.
That alleged theft happened when Vines was in control of his arrestee's property prior to booking and stole most of the cash out of an envelope belonging to the arrestee.
Vines is due in court on December 11th and he remains free on his promise to appear.

They say they’ve developed leads but they need the public’s help in bringing the person responsible to justice.
They’re asking anyone with information that might help to contact Detective Manny Perez at (805) 385-7645 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Wednesday Oxnard police will conduct an enforcement operation focused on drivers suspected of violating the hands-free cell phone law.
The law prohibits drivers from holding a phone or other device to talk, text, or use an app.
Using a hand held phone or device while you’re driving will get you a fine.
An if you get caught doing it a second time in less than three years, a point against you will be added to your driving record with the DWV.
