Jury Deliberations Continue In Ventura County Serial Sexual Assault Trial

     Updated--Jury deliberations continue in the trial of a Colorado man charged in connection with a series of sexual assaults in Simi Valley and Los Angeles.

     27-year-old Charles Gaines III is facing a half dozen counts of sexual assault and more than three dozen special allegations.

     He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and has denied all special allegations.

     Gaines testified in his own defense at the trial.

     Gaines was arrested in August of 2022 in connection with an extortion case handled by LAPD and was brought back to California from his home in Aurora, Colorado.

     They say DNA evidence then allegedly linked him to the sexual assaults in Simi Valley and Los Angeles.

    The jury started its deliberations late Thursday afternoon and continued Friday, Monday, and Tuesday before recessing for the day.

     They will resume deliberations Wednesday morning.
