Updated--Jury selection will continue Tuesday in the trial of a Thousand Oaks man accused of the torture and severe beating of his daughter.

Several groups of potential jurors who have filled out questionnaires will return to the courtroom Tuesday to be questioned by both sides who are in the process of picking a jury and alternates.

On November 29, 2021, deputies responded to a home in the 4100 block of Lemonberry Place in Thousand Oaks.

They reported finding a 4-year-old girl suffering from what was described as life threatening injuries.

Paramedics administered CPR and she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The authorities arrested her father, now 28-year-old Tekquan Alexander, and charged him with what they believe was the physical abuse that caused those injuries.

He has pleaded not guilty to four felony charges related to the incident and has denied nine special allegations.

One of the four charges against him is "Assault on a Child Causing Comatose Condition or Paralysis."

     Another is torture.

Alexander remains in the Ventura County Jail and is being held without bail.
