According to the latest figures from the California Employment Development Department, the unemployment rate in Ventura County in August was 3.9 percent, unchanged from July and slightly lower than August of last year when it was 4.0 percent.
It was lower than the statewide average in California of 4.2 percent but slightly higher than the national average of 3.8 percent.
As far as jobs are concerned, from July to August the county lost 1800 jobs, almost all of that in the farm or agricultural sector.
Year to year, the county gained 300 jobs.
The sectors with the highest job gains over the past 12 months have been Construction, Mining, Logging, and Construction.
The sector with the highest loss of jobs during the past year has been Trade, Transportation, and Utilities.
