Governor Appoints New Ventura County Judge

Governor Newsom has appointed a new Ventura County Superior Court judge to fill a vacancy created by the retirement of another judge.
Ethel Hernandez is a Senior Deputy District Attorney at the Ventura County District Attorney's Office where she has been since 2012.
Before that she served as a Deputy District Attorney Pro Tem at the Santa Barbara County DA's Office and before that she was a Law Clerk at both the Santa Barbara and Ventura County prosecutor's offices.
Hernandez earned her Juris Doctor degree from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law and a Master of Law degree from Lamar University.
She fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Bruce Young.
Hernandez is a Democrat.
Starting salaries for judges in California is more than $238,000.
