First Half Of Ventura County Rain Year Relatively Dry
Wednesday March 19, 2025
If Ventura County is going to have a decent "rain year" it's going to be up to Spring and Summer.
Fall and Winter simply did not do the job.
The rain year runs from October 1st through September 30th.
We start Spring Thursday with a pronounced rain deficit everywhere in Ventura County.
So far Moorpark had the highest percent of normal while the Pleasant Valley Water District was at the lowest percent of normal for its area.
As of Wednesday, Moorpark was at slightly more than 61 percent of normal with a little more than 7 inches so far when normal to date would be slightly less than 12 inches.
The Pleasant Valley Water District had recorded a little more than 3 inches so far when normal to date for them would be almost 11 inches.
That's just a little more than 28 percent of normal.
Most every other reporting station in the county ranged between 40 percent of normal to 50 percent of normal.
A year ago many areas of the county saw between 15 and 30 inches of rain.
This year so far almost everyone is in single digits.
The snow in the northern mountains of the county will help out a bit but it will not make up the deficit.
