Firefighters Battle Major Fire In Saticoy

     Some 65 firefighters from several agencies in Ventura County converged on the community of Saticoy Thursday evening to deal with a major fire.

     They say a huge rubbish pile in the 1900 block of Lirio Avenue went up in flames, including a pile of crushed cars 20 feet high.

     A large black smoke cloud be seen for miles around.

     Several aerial ladder trucks were called in to pour several streams of water on the blaze.

     Each stream is capable of flowing between 750 to 1250 gallons of water per minute.

     The fire was reported shortly before 6 PM.

     Its cause is under investigation.
