Felicia Fire Near Lake Piru 100 Percent Contained

     Updated Tuesday--The "Felicia Fire" west of Lake Piru was declared 100 percent contained at 367 acres.

     All evacuations and road closures have been lifted.

     Patrols will continue to check for any hot spots within the containment lines.

     Otherwise, all equipment has been released.

     The blaze started midday Thursday west of the lake and grew quickly on hillsides and canyons thick with dry vegetation.

     Several hundred firefighters, aided by a swarm of water dropping helicopters, worked quickly to get the upper hand on the blaze.

     By Thursday night crews had stopped the forward progress of the fire.

     By Friday, they started releasing much of the personnel and equipment that had responded to the fire.

     Its cause has not been released.

     The incident involved a unified command with the U-S Forest Service and Ventura County Fire Department.
