Fatal Ventura House Fire

     A woman was killed, a man seriously injured, in a Ventura house fire.

     The blaze was reported at 8:45 AM Friday morning in the 400 block of Nova Court in a residential area of East Ventura between Foothill Road and Loma Vista Road west of Victoria Avenue.

     When firefighters arrived at the scene, they reported smoke and flames visible from a single story, single family home.

     There was also a report of a person trapped in the fire.

     Firefighters went into the burning building and found the adult female who was deceased.

     An adult male was treated at the scene for serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to VCMC.

     He suffered smoke inhalation and burns while attempting to put the fire out using a garden hose.

     His current condition is unknown.

     No other injuries were reported.

     Firefighters had the fire knocked down in about 14 minutes.

     The cause of fire was under investigation.
