Updated--One person is dead after a Metrolink passenger train and a car collided near Camarillo Monday afternoon.
It happened around 2 PM in the area of Las Posas Road and Fifth Street.
The male driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ventura County Fire Department says that, "The train was carrying five passengers and three crew members, none of who sustained injuries."
The CHP says the fatal victim was driving a white Lincoln MKC southbound on Las Posas Road and had stopped for the red signal at Fifth Street.
The CHP says "While stopped, the vehicle came to rest on the train tracks. As the train approached the railroad crossing arms and signals activated. The train was unable to stop in time and collided with the white Lincoln, which was positioned just north of the intersection. The impact caused the Lincoln to travel in a southeast direction, eventually coming to rest east of the intersection."
The train continued eastbound for a quarter mile before coming to a stop.
