Updated--The CHP says an Oxnard man was killed in a hit and run crash on the Northbound 101 in Camarillo that closed the freeway NB for 8 hours on Tuesday morning.
The CHP says that shortly before 1 AM they received a call saying that a semi and a car were involved in a crash on the NB 101 at Carmen Drive in Camarillo.
But it turns out the crash involved a gray 2010 Ford Mustang and a black 2007 Lexus IS 250.
They say the Lexus was NB at a high rate of speed when it made an unsafe turning movement to the right and hit a concrete wall.
That caused it to roll over and end up disabled in traffic lanes.
That's when the Ford struck the Lexus and then continued forward and hit the guard rail in the center divider.
The CHP says the driver of the Ford then got out and fled the scene on foot and despite an effort by the CHP to find him was still outstanding as of 9 AM Tuesday morning.
The CHP says the driver of the Lexus, a 40-year-old Oxnard man, was extricated by firefighters.
He was taken by ambulance to VCMC where he died.
The NB 101 was closed until 9 AM Tuesday morning.
