Fatal Crash Shuts Down Major Oxnard Intersection
Saturday January 09, 2021
Updated--A bicyclist was killed in a traffic collision that shut down the "Five Points" intersection in Oxnard Saturday afternoon.
Police say that it happened around 3:43 PM on Oxnard Boulevard just north of Wooley Road.
Traffic investigators say that a 2019 Peterbilt semi-tractor pulling a 53-foot trailer was northbound on Oxnard Boulevard after turning from Wooley Road when it struck a 75-year-old Oxnard man riding his bicycle.
The bicyclist died at the scene.
The 21-year-old Fresno man driving the big-rig immediately stopped, parked along the side of the roadway, and cooperated with officers investigating the incident.
They "do not believe that speed and/or alcohol are contributing factors to this collision."
The incident shut down the intersection for several hours but it has since reopened.
