Simi Valley police say they arrested the former employee of a business for allegedly vandalizing that business but not before he lead them on a pursuit from Simi Valley to Thousand Oaks.
They say shortly before 1 AM Saturday morning officers responded to a suspicious incident at Chakra Organics at 4210 East Los Angeles Avenue.
A witness had called 911 to report a man was using a metal object to smash the windows of the business.
The witness also provided a description of the vehicle associated with the suspect.
When officers arrived the suspect was gone but it was clear that there had been extensive damage done to both the inside and outside of the business.
They also learned that the business owners had reported a prior vandalism on October 14th by an ex-employee identified as 40-year-old Shawn Robert Lawrence of Simi Valley and that he drove a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle seen in this latest vandalism.
As officers drove to Lawrence's last known address they spotted his vehicle driving westbound on Los Angeles Avenue and tried to pull it over, but the driver failed to yield.
A pursuit began that went from Simi Valley to the Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks where the vehicle finally yielded and Lawrence was taken into custody without further incident.
Simi PD says Lawrence was booked into the Ventura County Jail for felony vandalism, burglary, and evading a peace officer.
