Updated--There was a massive law enforcement response to the Ventura College campus Tuesday around 6 PM when an alert was issued on school computers of an active shooter on campus.

It turned out to be a false alarm, a malfunction in the school's computer system that caused a lot of concern.

Officers from VPD, campus police, the CHP, Sheriff's deputies and their copter all responded.

A room to room search of several buildings in the southeast corner of the campus near Day and Telegraph roads was conducted.

But they turned up absolutely nothing.

NO suspect, NO victims, NO evidence of anyone with a firearm or anyone who was a threat.

     Several buildings were evacuated.

By 7:30 PM, law enforcement declared the campus safe and the incident over.
