The California Highway Patrol is investigating two separate fatal incidents in unincorporated areas Friday morning, one near Oxnard, the other near Ojai.
The first was on Harbor Boulevard east of Gonzales Road shortly after 5:30 AM.
The CHP says that 28-year-old Samuel Z. Quezada of Oxnard was driving a 1991 Mazda B2200 pickup westbound when for reasons still under investigation he made an unsafe turning movement and lost control of the vehicle.
The pickup hit the curb, overturned, and he was ejected.
The pickup ended up over the side of the roadway with him underneath according to reports from the first arriving fire units.
Quezada was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second fatal incident occurred in the unincorporated area near Ojai around 10:43 AM Friday.
The CHP says that 74-year-old Michael Chambiss of Ojai was riding a Bianchi Infinito bicycle eastbound on Rancho Drive west of Del Norte Road when for reasons that area still under investigation he lost control and collided with the asphalt roadway.
Chambiss was taken to Ojai Valley Hospital where he died.
