For the second time in two months, an inmate in the Pretrial Detention Facility in Ventura has been the victim of a homicide.
That determination was made following the death last week of 61-year-old Michael Larios Torres in his cell.
The Medical Examiner says Torres died as a result of injuries he received in an assault in his cell and the sheriff's department says his cellmate is the suspect in the killing.
The name of the cellmate has not been released yet.
Torres died from blunt force trauma and neck compression.
This is the second homicide in that jail facility in two months.
In September, 53-year-old Jeffrey Kibler of Ventura was beaten while in the day room of his unit and he died later at the hospital.
Another inmate, 34-year-old Daniel Fuller of Ventura, has been charged with second degree murder in connection with that homicide.
