Updated--There's been another delay in the arraignment of a possibly suicidal Moorpark man involved in a 9-hour plus standoff with the authorities earlier this week.
The defense Friday asked for and received another continuance to October 11th for 61-year-old William Boer to enter pleas to several felony charges filed by the Ventura County DA's Office.
Those charges include two counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Possessing Explosives, and one count of Attempting to Burn Down his home in the 4200 block of Ventavo Road in the Moorpark Home Acres area.
He is also facing two special allegations that his actions were planned and that it involved using a gun and a rifle.
The charges and special allegations relate to two incidents in the marathon barricade situation the first that started it and the second towards the end of the incident.
The first had to do with what happened when Boer's estranged wife came to the home and discovered he had allegedly prepared to ignite gas from the stove with propane tanks in the room with them both inside.
That failed when his lighter did not work.
And then as she fled the house she heard what she said were gunshots.
The second incident was towards the end of the incident when Boer, during one of several times he shot from inside the house towards deputies stationed outside, almost struck a detective.
Fortunately no one was injured in either incident or during the entire standoff.
Boer ended the standoff peacefully enough when finally came out and surrendered without further incident some 9 hours after it started.
He remains in the Ventura County Jail and is being held with no chance of bail.
