A nearly 10-hour standoff with what deputies described as a violent parolee in Moorpark ended Monday morning.

They say that around 11:30 PM Sunday the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Elroy Orduno, entered his ex-girlfriend's home in the 10,000 block of Citrus Drive on the western edge of Moorpark south of the 118 near Hitch Boulevard.

That started what deputies say was a barricade situation.

They say the SWAT Team, armored vehicle, K-9, drone, and crisis negotiator responded.

Deputies say that during the time, Orduno would allegedly come to the front door, make an obscene gesture, and then go back inside.

During the standoff, deputies talked with Orduno by phone and he made seveal demands and continued to refuse to surrender.

Then, around 9:20 AM, deputies deployed tear gas into the residence and Orduno finally came out and was taken into custody without further incident.

He was taken to the hospital to be treated for some self-inflicted injuries.

According to court records, Orduno has several pending and former criminal offenses related to domestic violence.
