The CHP says one person was killed and four others injured in a head-on crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Ventura County early Tuesday morning.
They say it happened on PCH north of Mugu Rock at 12:20 AM.
The CHP says a white 2010 BMW 528i driven by a 32-year-old Oxnard man was traveling southbound on PCH at an unknown speed when for unknown reasons he traveled into the northbound lane where he crashed head-on into a northbound black 2004 GMC Envoy SUV with four people inside.
The BMW came to rest in the northbound lane while the GMC ended up in the southbound lane.
The driver of the BMW, its sole occupant, was taken to VCMC where he was pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Oxnard man driving the GMC SUV suffered a minor injury.
He was taken to VCMC for treatment where they determined he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and he was arrested for DUI, although it appears he was not the cause of the crash and he was not arrested on any charge relating to that.
The passengers in the GMC SUV, all 25-year-old men from Oxnard, suffered injuries that ranged from minor to major.
They were taken to Los Robles for treatment.
The crash shut down PCH in both directions for several hours.
