Oxnard Man Arrested For DUI In Fatal Crash

Tuesday June 23, 2020

The California Highway Patrol says Monday night's fatal crash near Oxnard was caused by a DUI driver.

The CHP says the suspect, 21-year-old Jacob Anthony Caliboso of Oxnard, was driving his sedan westbound on Pleasant Valley Road towards Oxnard shortly after 9 Monday night when he traveled into the eastbound lane near Hailes Road and smashed head-on into an eastbound scooter being driven by 55-year-old Elva Andrade of Camarillo with a 7-year-old female juvenile passenger.

The impact of the crash caused Andrade and her female passenger to be ejected.

Andrade was pronounced dead at the scene while the juvenile passenger was taken to VCMC with major injuries.

The CHP says both were wearing helmets.

Meanwhile, Caliboso, who was not injured, was arrested for felony DUI-drugs and felony manslaughter.

He was booked into the Ventura County Jail with his bail set at $50,000 and Caliboso is due in court Wednesday afternoon to be arraigned.
