Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Oxnard Vehicle Crash
Saturday November 30, 2024
Oxnard traffic investigators say a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and three other vehicles sent the motorcyclist to the hospital with major injuries and shut down a major intersection for several hours Saturday.
It happened around 4:45 PM at the intersection of North Ventura Road and Second Street (that turns into Teal Club Road on the other side of Ventura Road).
They say a 26-year-old Bakersfield man driving a 2022 Toyota Tacoma failed to yield to three other vehicles including the motorcycle as he made a left turn from northbound Ventura Road to westbound Teal Club.
The motorcyclist, a 20-year-old Oxnard man on a 2021 Kawasaki Ninja, was seriously injured and was taken to VCMC where police say he was last listed in critical but stable condition.
The driver of one of the other vehicles suffered a complaint of pain.
Meanwhile, that intersection was effectively shut down for several hours because of the crash.
Oxnard police traffic investigators said in a news release that the Bakersfield man driving the Tacoma failed to yield when making the left turn and, "impairment may be a contributing factor" however they are still investigating.
According to jail records the Bakersfield man driving the Tacoma was arrested but on unrelated illegal fireworks charges and he later posted bail and was released.
The intersection was not fully reopened until late Saturday night.
