Thursday January 30, 2025
The CHP was investigating an incident in Moorpark Wednesday evening involving a man who reportedly jumped from the freeway overpass in Moorpark.
Initial reports from witnesses say the 23-year-old man pulled his vehicle over to the side of the NB 23 EB 118 connector around 5 PM, got out, and then jumped off the overpass.
They say he landed in a brushy area below that is between Princeton Avenue and the railroad tracks.
And survived.
When first responders arrive on scene they found the man breathing and conscious.
Ventura County Air Unit Copter 9 was brought in to hoist the man out of the area where he landed and then airlifted him to the trauma center at Los Robles Medical Center in Thousand Oaks.
No word on his current condition or the extent of his injuries.
The area where this happened as developed a tragic reputation as a location where people attempt suicides and a number of people have died in the years since the freeway was constructed in that area.
