An investigation is underway into what caused a condo fire in east Ventura early Tuesday morning.

It was reported shortly after 5 AM in the 7300 block of Unicorn Circle in the south end of the Todd Ranch Townhome complex near Ralston Street and Ramelli Avenue.

When firefighters arrived, they found a multi family residence with smoke and flames coming from the home and garage of one unit and threatening to spread to other units.

Crews from Ventura and Oxnard cities, and the County of Ventura fire departments began an aggressive interior attack and also crews on the roof to help ventilate the fire as part of the effort to knockdown the flames.

They say the fire was under control within 20 minutes after arrival but crews remained on scene for several more hours to conduct overhaul.

The fire unit sustained major damage with damage to two other units.

The residents of all three units were displaced by the fire.

     No injuries were reported.
