The CHP says wet weather was a factor in a fatal crash on the 126 Freeway in Santa Paula late Tuesday morning.
They say that around 11:15 AM a 59-year-old Fillmore woman was entering the westbound 126 from Peck Road in her 2003 Dodge Dakota pickup truck in the rain when she lost control and spun out into the main lanes of the freeway.
The CHP says a 41-year-old Santa Paula woman was driving her 2014 Mercedes ML350 in the left lane of the westbound 126 at 65 miles an hour when the Dodge Dakota pickup spun out into her path leaving her no time to avoid a crash.
The Mercedes collided with the driver's side door of the pickup and both vehicles ended up in the center median after hitting the metal guardrail that separates the westbound and eastbound lanes.
Both drivers were taken to VCMC where the Fillmore woman driving the pickup died.
The Santa Paula woman driving the Mercedes was treated for minor injuries.
The CHP says based on what they described as good witness information and their own investigation, no prosecution is expected.
