Witness Prevents Fuel Truck Theft From Oxnard Airport

Monday October 29, 2018

Oxnard police say a witness prevented the theft of a fuel truck from Oxnard Airport Monday afternoon.

They say it happened around 2:45 PM after police had received a call saying a man had jumped the fence to the airport, entered an unlocked fuel truck on the tarmac that had been left with the keys in the ignition, and then drove it towards the exit gate to Fifth Street.

Police say a witness followed the truck to the gate and when the thief was unable to leave the airport because he did not have the keycard to open the gate, the witness detained the suspect until officers arrived.

Officers then arrested 20-year-old Joshua DeJesus, a transient, for felony vehicle theft.
