Two Incidents At Santa Paula High School Wednesday

Wednesday October 9, 2019

Updated--Two unrelated incidents at Santa Paula High School Wednesday involving a carjacking and then later an unrelated fight that injured a security guard.

Police say the carjacking happened at 7:40 AM in the 400 block of 6th Street.

Two students reported that two other people had taken their pickup truck at gunpoint.

The male suspect who reportedly threatened the victims with the gun was between 17 and 20 years of age.

He was with a female that appeared to be 14 to 17 years old.

That vehicle was involved in a crash Wednesday afternoon on the 126 at Pyle Road east of Santa Paula and four suspects fled on foot but were captured by sheriff's deputies.

Then about noon time at the school, police say a drunk juvenile was causing a disturbance and confronting students on campus, challenging them to a fight.

That drew a large crowd of students and when a security guard tried to detain the suspect, he was assaulted.

Police were brought in to help the security guard and bring order to the campus.

Students were placed on what was called a "soft lockdown" for the rest of the school day and the juvenile who was causing all the problems was arrested and booked into juvenile hall.
