Tuesday February 11, 2020

Updated--A Thousand Oaks man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his mother.

31-year-old Christopher Schneider was charged Tuesday with murder and use of a deadly weapon, a knife, in the February 4th attack that killed his mother, 66-year-old Nancy Standish-Schneider.

Prosecutors say the attack happened at their family home in the 900 block of Woodlawn Drive in Thousand Oaks.

She was rushed to nearby Los Robles Medical Center where she died.

Meanwhile, Christopher Schneider had been in the hospital recovering from what the authorities believe were self inflicted wounds sustained in the attack.

When he was released Sunday, he was immediately taken into custody and booked into the Ventura County Jail for felony murder.

He is being held on $3 million bail.

He has a bail review hearing set for February 14th.

Investigators have said the fatal knife attack was the deadly end to a family dispute.
