Takes USAR Team 2 Hours To Find Body Of Woman Because Of Extreme Hoarding Conditions

Saturday September 22, 2018

The authorities are investigating the death of a woman who was found in her Newbury Park home that was so packed with items because of hoarding that it took the Urban Search and Rescue Team two hours to locate the body.

Deputies responded to the 800 block of American Oaks Avenue late Saturday morning to check the well being of the elderly woman.

But they were confronted with a case of hoarding that was so extreme they could not get into the home.

The Ventura County Fire Department, including their Urban Search and Rescue Team, responded and spent two hours digging through the house to reach the woman who was pronounced dead at the scene.

They believe she died from natural causes but a final determination will be made by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
