Suspect In Jail Inmate Killing Identified

The Ventura County Sheriff's Department has identified the jail inmate they say killed another jail inmate at the Pretrial Detention Facility in Ventura October 25th.

35-year-old Vu Cong Dao of Palmdale has been charged with the death of 61-year-old Michael Larios Torres of Oxnard.

Torres, who was found dead in his cell, died from blunt force trauma and neck compression.

He was the second inmate in two months at that facility to be the victim of a homicide.

Dao was his cellmate.

He has been charged with murder.

Dao had been in custody in Ventura County for felony burglary and misdemeanor vandalism.

His bail has now bee set at $2 million.

Dao is now scheduled to be in court Tuesday to face a murder charge.

In the other homicide in the Pretrial Detention Facility in Ventura in September, inmate Daniel Fuller of Ventura is charged in the beating death of inmate Jeffrey Kibler of Ventura.
