Oxnard police say an investigation into the theft of two vehicles in a motel parking lot Friday led to the arrest of six people on various charges.

Officers responded to the Vagabond Inn in the 1200 block of North Oxnard Boulevard around 6:40 PM Friday to a report of a disturbance.

They say they found two vehicles in the parking lot that had been reported stolen, a white 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup from Ventura and a red 2008 Ford Fusion from Oxnard.

Police say that led them to 45-year-old Christopher Fowler of Moorpark.

They allege he had been driving the Chevy pickup earlier in the day.

Fowler was arrested for felony vehicle theft.

Officers say he was staying in a room at the motel with several other individuals.

They say when they went to that room and investigated the other individuals, they arrested 30-year-old Richard Tamayo of Ventura on an outstanding felony warrant for armed robbery.

Police say they also arrested four other people in the room, three women and one man, on various misdemeanor charges.

Two of those suspects were from Ventura and two from Oxnard.

The investigation continues into who was responsible for stealing the Ford Fusion.
