Oxnard police say a teenage girl was arrested early Friday morning for vehicle theft, the second time in a week she's been arrested for that crime.
They say that around 12:40 AM Friday officers received a report of a stolen 2010 Mazda MX-6 traveling northbound in the 2800 block of Rose Avenue.
When they tried to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to yield and there was a brief pursuit that police called of for safety reasons.
But a short time later, officers found the vehicle crashed in the intersection of Rose Avenue and Cesar Chavez Drive.
They detained a female juvenile and adult male.
Police say they determined the female juvenile was the driver and she was arrested for vehicle theft.
They say it's the second time in a week this female juvenile has been arrested for vehicle theft.
The adult male was arrested for misdemeanor obstruction.
Oxnard police have been working to stop what they say has been an increase in vehicle thefts and they say many of the criminals who steal vehicles have done it before.
