Sunday December 1, 2019

Oxnard police say they've arrested a suspect in connection with two commercial burglaries early Sunday morning.

Around 1:35 AM, officers responded to a burglary that had just occurred at Tomas Cafe at 622 South "A" Street.

Private security personnel saw the suspect leaving the business and discarding a cash register.

When officers arrived on scene, they began checking the area and found the suspect running through the businesses in Heritage Square.

Police say they caught the suspect trying to leave the area.

They also determined that in addition to Tomas Cafe, the suspect had also removed the cash register from El Pollo Norteno at 715 South Oxnard Boulevard.

Police say they arrested 22-year-old Juan Cardenas of Oxnard for both burglaries.

   Both cash registers were recovered.
