Oxnard police say they arrested a man following a standoff that lasted several hours Saturday night.
It began shortly before 7:30 PM when officers responded to a residence in the 5100 block of Perkins Road to a report of domestic violence and indications the suspect might have hostages.
That started the hours-long standoff as the suspect refused any and all commands by police.
The SWAT team, a K-9 Unit, Crisis Negotiation and Neighborhood Policing teams were called in and the incident dragged on for several hours.
Streets were shut down and nearby residents were evacuated.
Finally, the suspect, 40-year-old Eusebio Tavares of Oxnard, surrendered.
Police say they discovered that Tavares was the only person in the residence and he did not have any hostages.
Tavares was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance and not complying with officers.
