Deputies in Thousand Oaks killed a man that they say came at them with a knife.

It happened around 1:14 Wednesday morning following a solo vehicle crash on Hillcrest Drive east of Dusenberg Drive in Thousand Oaks.

They say when deputies arrived at the scene, the driver was outside of his vehicle and he had a knife in his hand.

Deputies say as they tried to de-escalate the situation, the man came at them with the knife and they first used less lethal force but he continued to come at them and that's when the deputies fatally shot the man.

He is described as a 26-year-old resident of Thousand Oaks.

There was no one else involved in the incident.

An investigation is underway into the deputy-involved shooting.
